Sam I Donatucci

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

In 1942 Sam joined the United States Army. After serving 18 months Sam was able to attend college and enrolled at Eureka College in Eureka, Ill. where he was the first recipient of an athletic scholarship for football in 1944. After graduation Sam began working for the Chicago Park District where he worked his way to becoming Park Supervisor for Humboldt Park, one of the districts largest parks. In 1960 Sam began teaching physical education at St. Giles School in Oak Park, Ill. After moving to Park Ridge, Ill., Sam continued to teach at Fairview School until he became Vice-Principal at Lincoln Junior High. After 23 years, Sam retired in 1983 so he could work alongside his son at Mighty Mites’ first storefront in Park Ridge, Ill.
 

Virginia Donatucci

Founder & Treasurer

Virginia (Ginny) graduated from Wright Junior College (Chicago, Ill) in 1949. She began working for Foote, Cone, & Belding on Michigan Avenue in 1952 and a year later married Sam I Donatucci. Ginny proceeded to raise three children; Kathy, Michael, and Sam Sr. In 1969 Ginny helped her husband start an awards business in their garage. A proud grandmother of 10, Ginny remains the Mighty Mites’ treasurer after 42 years.

President of Operations

The youngest of Sam and Ginny’s children, Sam Sr. attended Maine East High School before he went on to play linebacker for the Northeastern Illinois University football team. Sam graduated in three and half years with a degree in business. In January of 1980, Sam moved Mighty Mites of of his parents’ garage and into its first storefront. Sam met and married his wife Cyndi in 1985. Now, with four children, Sam is passionately involved in the local park district’s year round sports programs and serves as the moving force behind Mighty Mites’ relentless growth.
 

Sam Donatucci Jr.

Vice President

Sam has spent his life around Mighty Mites and represents the future direction of the company. After graduating from Buffalo Grove High School in 2007, Sam attended Quincy University where he played football and studied business marketing. Upon graduation in 2011, Sam went to work full time at Mighty Mites. He currently oversees day-to-day operations and handles new business acquisition.

Mike Donatucci

Consultant

The middle of the three children, Mike attended Maine East High School before he went on to play defensive back for the Northeastern Illinois University football team. After graduating from NIU in 1978 with a degree in education, Mike spent the next two years as a graduate assistant football coach at Southern Illinois University. In 1980, Mike began coaching football in District 211 until recently, when he retired with over 100 wins, qualifying him for the High School Football Hall of Fame. Mike handles order processing and oversees business initiatives when not at home with his wife Joy, and their three children.
